ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for the effective and efficient handling of student administration affairs in the Student Administration Office of the Faculty of Humanities with specific reference to:
Student administration for undergraduate applications and admissions;
Liaising with a broad spectrum of relevant stakeholders (e.g. prospective students, applicants, registered students, finalists, graduates, supervisors and external examiners);

Assisting with arrangements for the handling of examinations and examination results and graduation ceremonies in order to deliver an exceptional and client-friendly service to students and all stakeholders involved in the processes related to student administration at the University of Pretoria.To apply, please visit the University's website and follow the link: Careers@UP
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
An appropriate and relevant three-year recognised degree/diploma with at least three yearsβ experience in student administration in a tertiary education environment; OR
Grade 12 with at least five yearsβ experience as indicated above.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
Appropriate language and communication skills to ensure effective interaction with diverse clientele;
Organisational skills;
Interpersonal and conflict management skills;
The ability to effectively work under pressure;
Computer literacy with a broad knowledge of and experience in the use of MS Office packages, the internet, GroupWise and PeopleSoft;
The ability to work independently, but to also function effectively within a team;
Accuracy and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.
The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 335 705 to R 402 652 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the Universityβs contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
