Technical Buyer
Our Client within a leading slurry pump OEM is looking for a qualified technical Buyer.

The Technical Buyer is responsible for supporting company delivery (OTIF) and inventory (Stock Turns) objectives through:

Timely procurement of raw materials, components, accessories, non-stock items and subcontracted services
Timely job scheduling and release that support production capacity constraints and customer delivery expectations
Regular monitoring of open order status to identify potential delivery risks and recommend countermeasures


Essential Job Functions:

Monitors short and long term material requirements needs, develops and implements effective plans to assure material availability using tools like Syspro and Excel to manage and action daily exceptions.
Controls the opening and closing of manufacturing jobs for the manufacturing floor and coordinates schedules and personnel with area supervisors.

Controls the flow of material from the supplier and on the production floor.
Manage non-conforming material (return and identify replacement).
Immediately communicates product revision changes to supplier.
Responsible for making what, when and how much decisions regarding material procurement and production, and reporting on these decisions.
Monitors vendor on time delivery performance and escalates as necessary to Supply Chain Manager if chronic delivery issues are identified.
Monitors vendor quality levels and escalates as necessary to Supply Chain Manager if chronic quality issues are identified.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Highly organized-demonstrates strong organizational and ERP planning skills
Syspro experience a strong recommendation
5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, of which at least 3 years in a planning / buying / materials management role
Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning and Supply Chain techniques
Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office
Driver’s licence and own transport
Minimum matric pass with mathematics
Diploma or degree in Technical, Operations or Supply Chain Management is a recommendation
