The South African Police Service (SAPS) has Visible Policing Job Opprtunities available in Pretoria.

The generic minimum requirements applicable to all the posts are as follows:

Display competency in the post-specific functions of the post
Fluency in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
Must have no previous convictions or cases pending
The ability to render at least 10 years’ pensionable service before reaching the pensionable age of 65 years.

1. Personnel Officer (Level 5) (2 Posts)
Appointment Act: Public Service Act Section: Human Capital Management and Development • Pretoria
Salary: R123 738 per annum (Ref. VP(E) 1/2015)

Post requirements:

 

 

A Certificate in Human Resource/Public/Business Management/Public Administration related fields
Applicants must be in possession of a higher qualification in the specific field or who have completed an internship/are currently undergoing an internship in the Public Service may receive preference
Appropriate/relevant experience in the field of the post as well as competency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint will be an advantage.

Core functions:

Administer all skill development activities
Administer employment equity
Administer Labour forum functions
Administer performance management functions
Administer absenteeism
Administer personnel practice and administration
Administer behaviour management.

2. General Work (Level 1) (7 Posts)
Appointment Act: Public Service Act Section: Supply Chain Management • Pretoria
Salary: R63 135 per annum (Ref. VP(E) 2/2015)

Post requirements:

A Grade 10 qualification will serve as an advantage
Basic literary, numeracy and communication skills
The ability to read and write
The ability to operate elementary machines and equipment
Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.

Core functions:

Maintain a high level of hygiene in and around the workplace with the cleaning of the SAPS premises assigned to him/her, which may include either or both inner and outer parameters
Perform tasks of a routine nature such as dusting the environment
Polish furniture, vacuum carpets and mop tile floors
Remove refuse
Wash cups
Clean bathrooms and kitchen
Ensure safekeeping and handling of a variety of aids in the cleaning of the premises
Load and unload goods

3. Security Officer (Level 3) (5 Posts)
Appointment Act: Public Service Act Section: Finance and Administration Services •Pretoria
Salary: R81 312 per annum (Ref. VP(E) 3/2015)

Post requirements:

A Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
Be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA)
At least a Grade E security certificate, however preference may be given to applicants in possession of a Grade D or higher certificate
A driver’s licence for a light motor vehicle will serve as an advantage
Not declared unfit to possess a firearm
Willingness to work shifts and extended hours.

Core functions:

Execute control of admission by positive identification of officers/employees, visitors and personnel before they are allowed to enter the premises
Keep necessary visitor’s register
Check supplies, articles and objects, where necessary, before they are allowed into the premises to ensure that the safety of the premises will not be threatened
Patrol buildings and fenced-off areas
Guard vehicle
Bring any deficiencies or problems with regard to security matters to the attention of the senior personnel in charge of security in the building
Render assistance to security offices in the performance of duties.

4. Switchboard Operator (Level 3)
Appointment Act: Public Service Act Section: Finance and Administration Services • Pretoria
Salary: R81 312 per annum (Ref. VP(E) 4/2015)

Post requirements:

A Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
A Certificate in Call Centre Management/Office Administration/Management/Public Administration/Management or related fields
Applicants in possession of a higher qualification in the specific field or who have completed an internship/are currently undergoing an internship in the Public Service may receive preference
Appropriate/relevant experience in the field of the post as well as competency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint will be an advantage.

Core functions:

Handle outgoing and incoming calls
Relay important information
Provide telephone numbers and other information
Place person-to-person calls.
