Support Technician (Technology Concern) Durban
The system support technician is a position within the Road Safety system support team responsible for providing assistance to customers and operational staff by installing, configuring and supporting computer software and hardware. The system support technician is the point of contact for incidents and service requests.
Responsibilities:
· Install and configure of new hardware and Software
· Monitor and Maintain systems and infrastructure
· Rollout of new applications and upgrades.
· Carry out administrative duties; e.g. Maintenance and day to day operational support
· Perform other duties as assigned
· Maintain Backups, Security, and other strategies.
· Investigate and resolve incidents logged by customers.
· Examine and complete service requests logged by customers
· Communicate effectively with users and relevant role players to keep them informed on the status of issues and incidents.
· Coordinate and liaise with suppliers on equipment repairs.
Competencies:
· Working experience with MS server 2008 and later
· Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, ISO network layers)
· Working experience with MS Windows 7 and later
· Sound knowledge of troubleshooting and deployment of thick/fat and thin client based applications
· Experience in incident management
· Time Management
· Creative and innovative
· Attention to detail
· Ability to perform under pressure
· Good communication skills
· Analytical and problem solving
· Experience with SQL
Qualification and experience:
· Diploma in information systems, Engineering or related subject
· Microsoft Certified System Engineer – Advantageous
· Driver license
· Proven track record
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role
