Mr Price Logistics is currently looking for a Straddle Carrier Driver, a straddle carrier is vehicle for intermodal yards which is used for stacking and moving containers. Straddle carrier operators pick and carry containers while straddling their load and connecting to the top lifting points via a container spreader.


Description:
Entails the safe and efficient operation of straddle carrier, to move and stack containers as directed and to achieve operational performance targets.


Job Requirements

Grade 12/ NQF 4 or equivalent qualification
Holder of a valid open general driver’s licence - preference will be given to code 10 due to spatial consideration with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception
Ability to understand and recognize container yard row, tier and slot positions
Ability to understand and comply with alphanumeric instruction messages displayed on Radio Data Terminals

Ability to communicate effectively using 2-way radio system
Ability to work harmoniously as part of a team, and adhere to operational plans and instructions given to achieve maximum productivity
Sound mechanical background, with the ability to clearly communicate information on equipment faults to maintenance personnel based on observations made
Ability to work productively at heights for sustained periods
Ability and willingness to work on shifts
Must be results-oriented
Care and attention to the condition of the carrier.
