our client which is based in Johannersburg is currently looking for Plant Managers in Manufactures products by supervising staff, organising and monitoring workflow, directs and co-ordinates the activities of a group of Supervisors who supervise skilled and semi-skilled employees engaged in performing a variety of production or assembly operations. Liaise with the relevant departments on production schedules, material supplied and quality standards and to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, and that the correct amount is produced on time, at the right cost and level of quality.
Schedule production, staffing, equipment; exercise cost control, quality control, inventory control; coordinate production activities with those of other departments.
Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
Initiate plans and processes, which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilisation of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.
Maintains safe and clean work environment
Assure that disciplinary issues are effectively administered and that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
A Diploma/Degree in Manufacturing Management would be an advantage.
Minimum 8 yearsβ experience in high-volume manufacturing, with 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience.
Excellent problem solving abilities, good judgement and a decision maker.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Computer literacy, with good spreadsheet, Power Point presentation and ERP system knowledge.
