Duties & Responsibilities

Source products internationally, predominantly in Europe, with necessary required travel.
Manage, Lead and Provide strategic direction to the Buying team.
Strategic long term planning based on market insights.
Built and maintain strong supplier relationships internationally.
Supplier negotiation and budget management.
Quality control and management at the required level through relationships with suppliers.
Manage and meet brand requirements across product categories.
Awareness of market opportunities and competition.

Experience Required
At least 10 Years retail apparel fashion experience at a managerial level

Minimum Qualifications Required
Minimum of a matric plus a completed tertiary qualification (ideal)

Knowledge Required
Strong, existing relationships with international suppliers.
Effective supplier management and negotiation skills.
Proven knowledge of international sourcing.
Solid understanding of manufacturing and retail, including an understanding of cloth and variables related to quality control.
Participatory leadership style, including the ability to lead a diverse team.
Strong customer orientation and internal stakeholder engagement.
Solid understanding of apparel as well as technical knowledge.
Understanding of retail import.
Appropriate customer and market insight with a good fashion sense.
Ability to build and manage a brand from scratch.
Uncompromising pursuit of quality and results orientation.
Ability to work independently and self-manage.
