A position of Medical Technologist/Technician has become available at a Johannesburg based histology laboratory.
Job Description:

Manage sample reception and determine whether samples are suitable for setup/analysis

Assist pathologists with macroscopic examination and put through of specimens for processing

Perform procedures and tests including microtomy, embedding, special staining methods and immunohistochemistry stains, as well as implementing and validation new tests.

Ensure that equipment is maintained and the preparation of reagents

Manage data required for the efficient functioning and smooth running of the lab

Maintain safe standards in accordance with the OHS act

Trouble shooting wherever necessary

Involved in teaching and training other staff members, writing and reviewing of SOPs and stock control

Qualifications and Skills:

National Diploma in Biomedical Technology OR SMLTSA Certificate as a Medical Technician

HPCSA registration as a Medical Technologist/Technician in Histology

Ability to work unsupervised

Knowledge of GLP

Knowledge of laboratory processes and procedures

Knowledge of SANAS accreditation
