GIS data analyst



Core competencies: GIS data capturing, analysis and updating

Importing, manipulation and updating of spatial data and their attributes
Analysing spatial and attribute data
Updating, training and extraction of data from mobile application

STRATEGIC

Stay abreast of GIS market and related technologies

Conduct market research on new GIS functions and tools which can assist the Professional Services department with daily tasks.

Be aware and track changes to GIS tools, both tools we are currently using and could possibly require in future.
Identify weaknesses in the GIS data collection and storing process.
KPI Target:

Suggest new/improved software/tools/process to GIS department and Processional Department each quarter.


INTERNAL BUSINESS PROCESS

GIS and Asset register responsibilities.

Facilitate the sourcing of GIS and related asset data.
Perform GAP analysis and report on Gap analysis template
Perform spatial linking of data, linking data from FAR too spatial entities.
Updating, capturing and cleaning data:
Removal of duplicates
Updating spatial location
Capture and geo-reference hardcopy or scanned drawings and plans to provide data in an electronic format.
Updating attribute data.
Convert other data sources and prepare data for import into IMQS system.
Map production.
Create maps for use in presentation, either by printing them or supplying in digital format.
Create project/Client specific analytics maps.
Assist with importing of data into mobile capturing tool.
Provide data from any mobile capturing tool, i.e. for movable and immovable assets, to the client, in the format as requested (shapefiles, Excel etc.).
Assist in documenting all internal processes and procedures in the GIS environment.
Assist with the preparation and importing of asset register data.


CUSTOMER

Client responsibilities

Provide training or product demonstrations on any IMQS module or mobile application.
Assist in the organising of / and presenting at user groups or workshops.
LEARNING & GROWTH

APPLICATION KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCY

Ensure technical skills are constantly improved
Keep honing application usage skills, always be aware of GIS software capabilities.
Minimum Requirements/Skills:

3 year BSc. Computer Science degree from a reputable institution
4+ years experience in widely adopted programming languages and browser scripting languages
Experience in Infrastructure Asset Management Software
Will be negotiated and will be market related
