CLAIMS SPECIALIST: NON-LIFE CLAIMS (LEVEL C1)

Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa Limited (MRoA) has been operating in South Africa for 50 years, although the Munich Re (Group) was active on the Continent via Munich Re in Munich for some years prior to commencing the Southern African operation in Johannesburg in 1968. The Head Office of MRoA is in Johannesburg, with a client service Life office situated in Cape Town.

YOUR JOB
This position bears responsibility for the management of claims which includes:
Assess claims for non-life classes of business (mainly property / engineering ) against policy coverage to ensure that all aspects of claims handling/ management are complied with and ensuring that appropriate loss reserves are maintained and legitimate payments are effected
Understanding and complying with claims guidelines and processes including but not limited to large losses, outliers and loss complexes
Where required, deciding what type of claims or risks calls for special expertise (carrying out loss inspections, advising on risk prevention, etc.)
Familiarity with and understanding the reserving practices of clients; being able to assess the quality of reserves established and/or to ask critical questions about these
Develop and maintain sound relationships with clients
Provide excellent service and solutions that satisfy the needs of clients
Knowledge transfer through training, presentations and seminars
Maintain liaison with the underwriters on verification of claims information, make recommendations on claims clauses or treaty wordings and sharing of lessons learned on claims

Understand claims as a contributor in adding value to the company
Undertake due diligence and claims reviews as and when required
Capable of stating position clearly and presenting it to individuals or groups
YOUR PROFILE
Qualifications and Experience:
Tertiary qualification: Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering would be an advantage
Insurance qualification(ACII,AIISA,ACILA etc) or studying towards an insurance qualification
10 years’ experience in claims handling/ management/loss adjusting and/or underwriting of property/engineering business, Knowledge of reinsurance would be an added advantage
Skill Requirements:
Good negotiation, communication and presentation skills
A highly motivated self-starter willing to take on challenging tasks
Ability to work under pressure and able to meet deadlines
Analytical Mind
Sound administration skills
Computer Literate(Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Team Player
