Cargo Agent (Exports)-Africa Flight Services

The Cargo Agent will provide a service to a number of companies and clients. The position involves operational duties, processing of documentation, and ensuring compliance with relevant law, within the context of SLA's. You will report to the Office Team Leader and Duty Manager on a regular basis.

1. PURPOSE
To ensure the effective verification of documentation and accurate data capture into CargoSpot and other computer
systems where required.

2. COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION:
Grade 12 certificate or equivalent

SKILLS:
General communication skills
Must be numerate and literate
Must have computer knowledge and literacy
Ability to work under pressure
TRAINING:
Live Animal Regulations
Dangerous Goods Cat 8
Part 108 Cargo Security
Perishable handling
Cargo 1 would be advantageous
EXPERIENCE:
Sound knowledge and understanding of the following:

Sound knowledge and understanding of
a) Export / Import documentation
b) Dangerous Goods acceptance and handling
c) General cargo legislation awareness
d) Hazard spotting
e) Manual handling and safe practice
f) Health and Safety legislation
g) Customs and Excise
3. REQUIRED APTITUDES/ABILITIES (PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE AND EMOTIONAL)

4. JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides services to the companies within a designated area of responsibility.
Documentation verification.
Full Data Capture into CargoSpot and other computer systems where required.
Truck and flight manifesting
Tracking and tracing
Post flights in our in house and external airline computer systems
Consolidation completion.
ULD build up manifesting in CargoSpot System.
Dangerous goods checking and acceptance.
Maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
End of month reconciliations and filing.
Submit manifests to customs.
5. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with Company Standards.
Will assist with additional tasks within the context of the job description.
Will attend training as and when requested.
Other reasonable tasks set by supervisory and managerial staff where necessary.
6. AUTHORITIES
Correspondence relating to the listed responsibilities or none.

7. HEALTH AND SAFETY
This employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in Warehouse.
Adherence to all safety, emergency procedures.
8. QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Adherence of relevant work instructions and procedures
Adherence to the QMS.
