About the Position

Our client, a leading national health cover consultancy with its head office based in Durbanville, Cape Town, is seeking an IT Support Technician.

Purpose of Position:


The role is a technical support position that requires in-depth knowledge in multiple areas of IT support and Infrastructure administration
The IT Support Technician will be responsible for delivering quality IT support and respsective administration needed to maintain the internal IT set-up to service the business' needs. This includes servers, networking, phone systems, laptops, desktops and outsourced service providers.
Duties & Responsibilities:


Assist employees with any and all computer, phone, email & network related issues
Log, update and communicate with employees via the Helpdesk ticketing system

Install and configure desktops and laptops for employees including new setups, migrations, rebuilds, etc
Manage and support a variety of server system environment
Execute telephone system changes, including routing for seating assignments
Assist the IT Manager in the administration of the procuring of all software, hardware and support agreements and other IT supplies
Application configuration such as email clients as well as in-house systems
Support special project initiatives
Assist Software Development staff with ad hoc data projects
Assist Marketing and Communications Department with setting up of email campaigns
Any other duties as reasonably required by the business
Technical Skills & Experience:

Technical:


At least 3 years' experience within an IT support environment working across network and server infrastructure
Windows Server 2003-2016 and Active Directory/DNS/DHCP administration experience required
SQL Server 2008R2-2016 backup & maintenance experience will be advantageous
Linux/Unix administration experience required
Knowledge of IP networks, routing, switching and firewalls (Linux and Windows)
Microsoft Application Suite experience required especially MS Excel
Zimbra NetworkEdition Email Server experience will be a bonus
Backup and recovery (Symantec Backup exec) experience required
Exposure to maintaining Antivirus systems (ESET Endpoint Antivirus Desktop & Servier editions) is a requirement. Especially remote administration.
Good networking support experience for firewalls and VPN client & server connections
Exposure to and experience doing support within a software development environment will be advantageous
Any relevant qualifications/diplomas also a distinct advantage
