Job Description

A diversified and growing SMME in the wholesale & retail industry is looking to appoint a Retail Store Manager who will be responsible for managing our store in the Northern Suburbs. The store manager will be a strong brand ambassador, coach and leader to a small team of sales assistants. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing strict controls in store operations and monitoring store operations, Managing the staff and their performance and budgets. The incumbent will drive their teams towards a culture of continuous improvement actively seeking ways to problem solve and implement new ideas and trends in the retail sales industry. Building strong customer relationships and establishing the store as the β€œgo-to” store for cooking and baking needs through planning and applying new marketing ideas is a key responsibility of this role.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12/Matric
Retail Management / Sales & Marketing qualification (diploma / degree)
3-4 Years FMCG retail store management experience and knowledge is essential
Sound knowledge of cooking and baking products
Experience using a Point of Sale system for Retail
MS Office (Excel and Word) – Intermediate to Advanced level
Code 08 Driver’s License will be an advantage

Duties will include:

Team Management & Development

Maintain store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Manage and motivate the team, create a positive work environment, and encourage ideas
Organise the team, manage their work, performance, attendance and delegate responsibility
Translate organisational goals into team actions and objectives
Set achievable yet challenging team and individual targets for the store
Assess, monitor and manage staff performance to ensure goals are achieved
Provide consistent feedback, monitor, coach and correct team performance on the spot.
Customer and Business Development

Build a loyal customer base through customer service excellence
Maximise the potential of all product categories through product knowledge, merchandising principles and sales strategies
Work with the marketing team to attract the target market and promote according to the unique needs of your store
Lead by example on the floor, understand the customer's needs, identify potential areas of improvement and cultivate a culture of high performance selling and customer service
Being a visible presence and support to the team as well as ensuring the organisations culture, values and business goals are being met
Store Operations

Plan and manage store operations
Ensure availability of merchandise and services by following correct ordering procedures and maintaining inventories.
Review merchandising activities, sales and stock levels to determine additional needed sales promotions; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends and preparing reports to management.
Ensure company policies and procedures are communicated and implemented in full.
Monitor store controllable expenses, supervise loss, asset protection and risk management and be accountable for inventory management.
Achieve financial objectives by adhering to an annual budget, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions.
