About the Position

Description

The incumbent is responsible for the conception, development and implementation of IT infrastructure architecture strategies to unify and standardize IT solutions (current and future). This includes ensuring that IT architecture strategies align with business goals/needs, focusing on realizing business value through cost effective technology solutions. This position has no direct reports, with success critically dependent on the ability to effectively leverage and engage other employees and external consultants, in the development and deployment of IT strategies and associated supporting technology solutions. Further, as part of the ITO team, the Group IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for continuous development of the infrastructure architecture discipline across the technology group. This position involves highly technical visioning, planning, risk abatement, supportability and effective analysis of enterprise infrastructure capabilities, and establishes frameworks and guardrails directing the design and deployment of technical solutions. Additionally, the position drives governance around the selection of architectural solutions for all IT projects from an infrastructure perspective.

To ensure that projects and outcomes are developed in alignment with the any architecture standards
To be able to work across all infrastructure technology domains and bring together with infrastructure Subject Matter Experts and Project Delivery teams to help create Infrastructure solutions

Determine how industry trends, product announcements and advances in technology
may impact the customer from becoming obsolete and assesses potential opportunities
Develop successful relationships with sales team members, partners and customers while support the objectives of the sales team
Architect and design solutions with supporting technologies while maintaining
customer's budget and environment restrictions
Ensure that proposed solutions when implemented meet the needs and functional
requirements of the customer
Deliver related IT assessments to analyse customer environment
Work with a sales team to identify, gather requirements for solutions, and draft proposals
Facilitate technical planning architecture sessions with the client
Develop project plans, resource requirements, and budget estimates
As a trusted advisor, build in-depth knowledge of clients' business priorities, challenges and initiatives that can be translated into opportunities

Skills/Requirements

Knowledge:

Significant understanding of a spectrum of infrastructure technologies and secure computing environments: network, hardware and operating systems (Windows, Linux); Server (Dell, HP), Storage (NETAPP), Tintri, Network (Cisco), VM ware. Other technical solutions
Previous experience working with PCI
Deep understanding of how to define architectures that satisfy stringent requirements for performance, security, scalability, high availability, fail over, and manageability.
Experience in specifying system performance requirements, network utilization targets, and system resource budgets
Knowledge and experience in the definition of Enterprise (business and technical) Architecture using best practice Architecture Frameworks.
Knowledge of server virtualization and related techniques
Knowledge of hardware performance implications, sizing, and capacity planning
Advanced Knowledge of routing, firewalls, and general networking and server best practices
Knowledge of multi-datacenter high-availability clustering and caching grids
Knowledge of Quality of Service inspection tools
Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITIL) processes, concepts and approaches.
Advanced knowledge of enterprise application integration and experience with messaging technologies and a wide variety of protocols.
Knowledge of capacity planning, cloud usage, and server procurement
Knowledge of international operations, rollout and management
Skills:

Strong reasoning skills including execution skills.
Expertise in broad set of infrastructure technologies including virtualization, WebLogic server administration, SAN, networking, firewalls, protocols, LAN/WAN, load balancers and related tools.
Expertise in a broad set of services such as DNS, directory services, deployment, automation, cloud, and visualization tools
Education & Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering/National Diploma Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, 5 to 7 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seven years of experience in the development of highly transactional, mission critical applications in heterogeneous environments/architectures for multi-user, global systems
Three years of technical leadership and architecture experience
