Matus, with branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, is the leading name in the distribution of tools and power tools across Southern Africa. We are looking to employ a GM: Marketing with extensive experience in a B2B Marketing environment, preferablty from the hardware/tooling sectors.
Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for all aspects of Marketing. It includes implementation of the marketing strategy, effectively managing budgets, pricing and reports, voice of the customer and communication, managing brand identity and positioning and management of human resources.

Minimum Requirements:

Relevant Marketing degree/diploma (B Comm. IMM GSM etc.)
Proven track record with progression within a company
5 -10 years’ experience in the Hand Tool Industry preferable, of which at least 3 years’ must be in a Marketing Management position.
Must have a valid code 08 driver’s license and own reliable transport
Knowledge and Experience:

Experience in a B2B Marketing environment

 

 
Advanced skills in Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word
Advanced skills in data analysis
Sound knowledge of the retail and industrial sector
Advanced knowledge of marketing principles and pricing strategies
Knowledge of market conditions
Knowledge of competitor products
Excellent business acumen (i.e. numeracy skills, generation of profit and loss, cash flow, margin)
Understanding of the Matus business model and business process value chain
Implement marketing strategies for B2B

Duties and Repsonsibilities:

Effective Implementation of the Marketing strategy

Evaluates and develops our marketing strategy and marketing plan.
Developing and delivering marketing and communications strategies for the organisation.
Researching demand for our products and services.
Competitor research
Oversee the planning and execution of campaigns for launching of new product lines.
Developing promotions with Category Managers.
Evaluate Marketing suppliers, communicate and distribute marketing material for campaigns.
Organize company conferences, trade shows and major events.
Monitor and communicate updates and new arrivals to business.
Produce valuable content for the company’s online presence, editorial design and organize the company’s publications
Plan and coordinate the maintenance and development of all catalogues
Management of Budgets, Pricing and Reports
Negotiate costs with suppliers
Obtain necessary approval from departmental heads
Forecasting expenditures, research and development appropriations, and return-on-investment and profit-loss projections.
Work with sales department to develop pricing strategies to maximize profits and market share while balancing customer satisfaction.
Ensure that all display stands are in stock, forecast and coordinate with Sales & Category Managers
Compile and submit relevant marketing reports
Voice of customer and communication

Manage the frequency and cost effectiveness of the call cycles of sales representatives
Manage a structured sales process to ensure quality of calling
Manage brand identity and positioning

Maintain a clear message and a consistent brand image across all media
Responsible for marketing of company corporate identity, both internally and externally, e.g. website etc.
Building brand awareness and positioning
Develop the marketing strategy, by brand, in the line with company objectives
Review positioning of Matus products to ensure they are relevant to the customers
Monitor company’s online social media platforms by overseeing social media marketing strategy and content marketing
Responsible for managing website content and ensuring it is kept up to date
Liaise with lawyers ensuring trademarks and brands are registered
Human Resources

Manage head counts with agreed budgets.
Achieve Employment Equity targets
Maintain effective leave planning and absenteeism management
Facilitate training and development interventions
Review performance in discussion with employees, agree ratings and set goals for new period.
Continuously communicate and provide constructive feedback and coaching to employees
Take disciplinary action where required
Develop formal succession plan for key positions
Customer database
Ensure that the database is accurate and relevant
