The Video Entertainment segment of Naspers is a broad-based multinational media group headquartered in South Africa and Dubai with principal operations in pay television and video entertainment. The group operates in almost 50 countries in Africa. Its holding company, Naspers, is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and has an ADR listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). International investors account for around 50% of its shareholder base.
An African platform operator, Video Entertainment’s expertise lies distributing media products, creating media content and selling advertising. Its key areas of operations are:
Pay Television: direct-to-home satellite and digital terrestrial television services; and
SVOD: subscription video on demand services across multiple online platforms with a focus on library and local content in developing markets

Purpose of the Position:
To research and write stories for MultiChoice that can be used internally and externally for the business – including the MAL Website and social media platforms. The purpose is to provide ongoing written material baou the business, the industry and technology which will resonate in Africa as well as position the company as thought leaders.
Key Performance Objectives
Tasks
Operational Delivery
Develop high-level editorial materials, including feature stories, web content, news releases, blogs, and op-eds, ensuring that all editorial content upholds the MultiChoice’s highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and clarity.
Research and create/ write corporate communication content that supports the MAL narrative and strategy
Manages complex projects and advises both the GM Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications team on the implementation and status of plans and goals; recommends shifting priorities as necessary.
Work closely with social media and web development teams to conceive and develop appropriate materials to convey key messages to target audiences.
Where necessary, identify, retain, and monitor the work for freelancers and vendors
Ensure where necessary the use of visual aids – infographics are used to tell the story
Maintain an updated compilation of company-specific style guides
Assist with the development of time and cost estimates
Help keep the company and employees up to date on editorial conventions, style guides, software, and tools
Contribute to long-term planning and special initiatives and projects

Ensure new site is functioning efficiently
Ensure timing & planning of features and initiatives are managed and ensure maximum use of infographics, videos – promoting MAL business and ensuring that the page is updated, keeping the stakeholder attention and promoting a positive reputation
Qualifications Essentials:
Degree or diploma in Journalism
Experience
A minimum of 6 years of experience in a communications field, Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
Ability to work creatively and independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Technical Competencies:
Excellent proofreading and copyediting skills, and experience providing editorial support for web, social media, and print
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Outstanding organizational skills
Great interpersonal skills—must be comfortable interacting with all levels of company employees and working as part of a team
Ability to juggle many tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
