Job Description Europcar Chauffeur Service, which forms part of a leading car rental company, invites applications for the role of Dispatcher based at the Wynberg, Sandton branch for our Special Project Branch. The successful candidate will play a behind-the-scenes role that is key to on-time service delivery to our key customer. Suitable applicants must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable to multi-task, coordinate and organize high volumes in order to ensure that the dispatch of the correct vehicle to relevant locations is consistent and happens on time.
Position Overview The purpose of the position is to dispatch the correct vehicles from the depot to the relevant location timeously and in accordance with the business requirements. The incumbent of the position must also be able to coordinate and plan the assignment of drivers and resolve or escalate issues.
Specific Role Responsibilities Job Outputs:
• Plan and allocate correct number of vehicles and staff to ensure maximum utilization.
• Ensure that all health and safety policies/ procedures/ requirements are adhered to.
• Manage staff rosters and check depot staff for uniform and address non-compliance.
• Ensure all drivers have undergone a breathalyser test at the start of their shift (or at any time deemed necessary during their shift) and details are record on the Alcohol Testing Log Sheet.
• Ensure that the Vehicle Log Register (key register) is completed at the start and end of each drivers shift.

 

 
• Ensure driver has completed a pre-departure checklist on the vehicle.
• Ensure that vehicle trip sheets are accurately completed for each trip by the driver.
• Ensure that a detailed hand-over takes place at the end of every shift.
• Dispatch correct vehicle as per booking requirements.
• Monitor cleanliness, maintenance and safety in all areas.
• Continuously check flight arrivals for any airport pickups.
• Monitor drivers whereabouts and driving behavior at all times and report any irregularities to management.
• Ensure the customer is contacted if the driver has a problem e.g. not locating the address, caught in traffic or not finding the customer at the airport.
• Communicate all service failures to the manager or supervisor.
• Ensure “Meet and Greet” sign (page board) with customer’s name is clearly printed with flight number and arrival time where applicable.
• Ensure that keys are kept in a safe place at all times and only issue keys for vehicles to those staff that are in need of vehicles.
• Immediately report all fleet-related defects to fleet supervisor as a matter of urgency.
• Report any accident damage to management immediately.
• Ensure that no staff member is allowed to take any vehicle home without prior authorization of management.
• All daily non rev’s must be authorised by the manager on duty before a vehicle can leave the yard.
• Assist with completion of accident reports by drivers.
Qualifications and Experience Minimum Experience:
• 2 year relevant (car rental, chauffeur service, logistics or fleet management experience).

Minimum Qualification:
• Grade 12/ Senior Certificate

Minimum Requirements:
• Valid unendorsed Code 08 driver’s license with valid PDP
• Computer Literate (proficiency required in Excel & Outlook)
• Own reliable transport
• Knowledge of Gauteng geography


Essential to note:
Given that the business supports a 24/7/365 business in terms of our availability to customers and the varying operational demands this presents, the appointed person will be required to work shifts. Alternating weekends/public holidays may also be a requirement.
