Controller Opportunity
This position is based in South Africa and part of the EMEA Controllership and Shared Finance organization and will be a member of the EMEA Finance Leadership Team ( FLT).
The main responsibilities of the role consist of leading the controllership and accounting teams to achieve its main goals of financial statements accuracy, process improvements and drive the further develop of the team and its members. The position will also have responsibility together with the Controllers for West Europe and East Europe and the EMEA Process Control manager to lead and coordinate the EMEA wide financial process initiatives and various projects.
People management responsibility for Africa Controllership team of 18+ FTE spread with direct reports (country controllers) in some 6 to 7 countries .
Supports all Africa businesses ( Seed& Traits, CP, Vegetables).

Key activities and responsibilities include :
People management
Responsibility for controllership team of 18+ FTE spread with direct reports (country controllers) in some 6 to 7 countries
Actively lead a continuous improvement and development(βRaise The Bar) vision for all the teams
Financial statements and reporting
Supervise monthly US GAAP closings prepared by Country Controllers and the US based SSC (Shared Service Center)
Elaborate together with Accounting Supervisors any tools allowing optimization in administrative , process and closing and reporting tasks to enable freeing up for more support in the risk management , analytical and compliance areas
Ensuring Compliance with Internal rules (CCP, Sox, FCPA, Market Funding control, Balance sheet review, FSR, Internal Audit) as well as with local regulations through review, analysis and documentation of processes within the accounting teams
Review key reporting (SEC, Tax Stream, US Tax packages) prepared by country controllers in close cooperation with US based COE
Process and Change management
Review all accounting processes, analyze & document them, and ensure that they are in line with internal and external rules
Participate to the design and lead implementation of standardization and optimization of all financial processes in connection with cross functional EMEA and Global process teams
Detect any improvements needed in order to make those processes more efficient, and implement them in connection with EMEA Process improvements team
Ad hoc project such as entity mergers, liquidations and financing
Network with Business and Functional Leads ( Vegetables Commercial, IT & Supply Chain/ Manufacturing)
Create a strong network with business leads of all divisions (Vegetables and Row Crops) and functional organizations in order to ensure controllership is well placed to advice on improvement, risk and compliance aspects of business projects and decisions
Special focus on cross functional aspects of IT projects impacting on financial processes as member of various BPI (business process improvements) teams

Required Education:
Master Degree in Accounting / Finance
Required Work Experience:
Minimum 10-15 years in finance functions with multi-country international experience within Europe
Technical skills:
Master US & local GAAP reporting, Good Proven experience with ERP/SAP, process design and project management.
Tax expertise is a strong plus.
