Our national client seeks to employ an experienced Branch Manager (with Glass & Aluminium Wholesale & Retail industry experience) for their busy branch based in Cape Town.

A good understanding of wholesale / retail sales and manufacturing of the various glass & aluminium products and services would be essential.

The Branch Manager will be expected to perform many of the numerous functions and activities relating to the management of the branch, Sales and the Sales teams, ensuring the achievement of sales targets and budgets and that the highest level of customer service is maintained at all times Must have good understanding of the factors that affect profitability in the warehousing and distribution environment. Take responsibility for the business and grow sales and profit with favourite financial returns. Management of all staff and operations at branch level and ensure that stock turnover, service and quality standards are met and improved on at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES;

Effective Day to Day management of the branch operations including Warehousing, stock, dispatch and logistics.
Effective Day to Day management of Sales and the Sales team
Develop and manage an Industry leading sales team
Ensure that sales targets are met and that sales objectives and goals are achieved
Call regularly on customers to maximize sales and service
Analyze customers and sales trends and utilize information to maximize sales and service
Motivate staff to achieve overall sales objectives
Manage and improve sales systems and controls
Ensure customer service is maintained at the highest level
Resource management, planning and control including leave and absenteeism
Manage and control petty cash
Maintain discipline relating to appearance, dress, work ethic, time keeping and rep vehicles
Manage sales costs within the budget guidelines
Manage efficiency and effectiveness of the warehouse and sales team
Formulate monthly reporting on sales turnover, efficiency, stock in trade, product distribution and resourcing
Identify and develop new customers and markets
Monitor competitor activity and take corrective action as necessary
Develop knowledge and understanding of the market and share this with the sales team
Maintain regular contact with customers always applying fair and ethical trade practices
Implement marketing activities \ strategies \ tactics as determined.
Enhance the public image and prestige of the company wherever appropriate by maintaining professional standards.
Maintain an interest in public and business trends in the glass industry in order to report situations advantageous or detrimental to company interests.
Maintain cordial and beneficial working relationships with all Sales, operational and administrative staff operating within the company
Maintain professional relationships with customers, suppliers and other stake holders
Grow and expand the current branch operations, customer base and market share in the various market segments and regions.
Take responsibility for the overall management of the stockist business including procurement, sales, service, operations, admin, selling price and margin.
Ensure that customer service is rated as excellent at all times.
Take responsibility for people management and HR functions for the branch and create and maintain a disciplined, fair and self-motivated performing team and work environment.
Ensure that staff is adequately trained to perform duties to reach targets.
Identify business prospects and take the necessary action to obtain business from them.
Take responsibility for and report on all items that affect branch profitability.
Control and monitor all costs applicable to the branch and report on any major variances.
Take responsibility for stock levels, bi-monthly stock-take procedures and stock control.
Determine in consultation with financial department, levels of credit for customers and take responsibility for the management thereof.
Ensure all policies and procedures are sound, communicated and implemented as required.
Maintain company improvement program, housekeeping and safety standards.
Perform any other functions that may be requested from time to time.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE;

Matric (Grade 12)
Min 5 years Branch Management experience.
Previous Glass & Aluminium (Wholesale, Retail, Manufacturing) industry experience (essential)
Any tertiary education (position related) an advantage, (Management, Sales, Operations, Finance etc)
Computer literate (MS Office) + Starfront operating system (advantage)
Drivers licence + own vehicle
